ABOUT

AFTERHOUSE

SEAFOOD BISTRO & WINE BAR

The “After House" is a structure on the deck of a whaling ship where the common sailors would go to get relief from the elements. Located next to the Galley, on deck, the After House was a communal room where whale men would share stories, enjoy a meal, have a grog, or just relax away from their duties on board.

Afterhouse seafood and wine bar is a true Nantucket seafood bistro, focused on serving chilled shellfish, raw fish preparations, caviars and tinned seafood. For non-seafood lovers, there are local vegetarian offerings, and some charcuterie selections.

We will offer beer on draft and in bottle as well as a curated wine list were every selection will be offered by the glass. Currently 26 wines are available by the glass, featuring wines from Spain, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Jura, California, Italy, Hungary, and Israel.

Afterhouse is currently open 7 days a week, serving our entire menu 2:30 pm - 12:30 am.

An After House is a small structure on the deck of a whaling ship usually built directly behind the Galley. It was used as a common room where sailors would go to escape the elements, share a story, have a beer or enjoy a meal.

Afterhouse Seafood and Wine Bar is housed on the garden level, through a tiny green door, in a historic building that was built in the 1840’s during the height of the whaling industry on Nantucket.

Our menu focuses on local ingredients and world renown seafood; including raw bar selections, small and shared plates, and curated tins. The wine list offers an extensive by the glass or bottle list, the beer selection features smaller local and regional bottles as well as a small but curated draught selection.

The menu is meant to be shared with friends and plates leave the kitchen with that idea.
